Illiteracy can be overcome within
only 30 hours of teaching
the key principles
There are 3 key principles to teach reading, writing and spelling quickly and efficiently:
- The 26 alphabet letter sounds are taught using cognates, i.e. words that have a similar sound and meaning in the mother-tongue as in English. South African cognates include words from Zulu, Xhosa and Sotho.
- The alphabet letters are used in a specific, logical sequence to enable “reading for meaning” at the outset of the programme.
- Unique, exciting mix-and-match games make learning fun.
Our mission is to establish a self-sustaining, continuing education program that lays the right foundation for literacy education in South Africa and enables learners to make an easy transition from home language to English.
